A separate meter can be installed to measure water usage for irrigation systems or outside watering at your home or business. Separate metering of irrigation water will save you the cost of the sewer fee ($10.42/unit as of September 2021) on the water used for this purpose.

The cost for a residential ¾” irrigation meter is $375.00.

Commercial accounts may use up to 1” meter. The cost for a commercial 1” water meter is $605.00.

Before installation, a plumbing permit (available from the Washtenaw County Building Department) is required and should be purchased by the homeowner or licensed plumber.

After purchasing the water meter at Scio Township Hall, you will have 10 days to have the water meter installed or your water service can be terminated.  Please call the Utility Department to schedule the installation of your secondary meter.

All outside/underground irrigation systems must have backflow prevention devices and must be certified by a third-party certification agency.
